Sub:- Admission to the GNM course for the academic year 2011-2012


The following are guidelines issued to the principals of the nursing schools to follow the same  during the admission of the candidates to the GNM course for the academic year 2011-2012.  These  guidelines should be strictly followed without any deviation or causing any inconvenience to the  students.  A. The list of the institutions recognized by the INC and the KSNC may be availed in the following Website:

The Government is not responsible for any inconvenience caused to the students admitted to the  unrecognized schools / Institutions for the 2011-2012 academic year.  The students should not be  admitted through the agents or any other sources.  The institutions should issue the receipts to  the students for the amount received from them.  The students admitted by the institutions not  recognized by the KSNC / INC will not be allowed to appear for the examination. C. The admission of candidates should be completed on or before 15-09-2011.  The candidates  should not be admitted after 15-09-2011.  If any such instances are noticed the belated admitted  students will not be allowed to appear for the examination.  The Principals are liable for the any  inconvenience caused to the students.  The inspection of admission records will be reviewed by  the inspection authorities during November 2011 and all the records should be made available.   1. Academic year 2011-2012 for GNM course  starts – From 01-09-2011 to 31-08-2012 and  internship from 01-09-2012 to 28-02-2013.  2.  Admission should be made only once in a year i.e., in the month of August 2011 up to           31-08-2011 only.  The last date for admission to the course is 31-08-2011.  The waiting list and  the other admission process should be completed by 15-09-2011.        3. a) For admission to the course for the  academic year 2011-2012, the students should have  attained 17 years of age and should not exceeded 35 years of age as on 1-09-2011, irrespective  of Government or Management admissions.    b) The Principal should personally verify the  date of birth of the students, the SSLC / X th  Std.  Marks card and confirm that  the age of the student is not less than 17 years and not  exceeded 35 years as on 01-09-2011.  In case if any under aged or over aged students are  admitted, the concerned principals will be held responsible and action will be taken against them,  and such students will not be allowed to appear for the examination.  4.  a) The Principals should admit the students  those who have passed the higher secondary /  Intermediate / Pre-University / 10+2 examination in India conducted by the Board of Examinations  as detailed in the list enclosed.  The students who have passed higher secondary / Intermediate  examination with any other courses conducted by the other Board of examinations should not be  admitted for 2011-2012. b) The students should not be admitted on the provisional or Xerox copy of the marks cards  c) The principals of the respective Nursing Schools should thoroughly verify and confirm the     genuiness of the original certificates submitted by the candidates before admission.  If any fake  certificates are noticed by the board, the concerned principals will be held responsible.



5. Only one list of admitted students for the  academic year 2011-2012 should be sent to the 
Secretary, Karnataka State Diploma in Nursing Examination Board,  # 243, Pragati Arcade,          
1st floor, 3rd Main, 3rd, cross, Chamarajpet, Bangalore-18, in the prescribed proforma through any responsible official of the Nursing School on or before 20-10-2011 along with (1) The Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Medical Superintendent and Deputy Chairman, KSDNEB
towards the affiliation fee paid at Rs.200/- per admitted students 2011-2012 (2) The prescribed 
application form duly filled in (latest photo of the student should be pasted in the space provided 
in the application form), (3) One set of xerox copies of SSLC (10th Std.) PUC (10+2) TC attested by the Principal, and   (4) Migration Certificate for Non-Karnataka students.  Any partial list of the admitted students will not be accepted.  The Embassy certificates in respect of the students studied 10+2 class outside the country should be produced. 
6. After the due date to submit the list i.e. 20-10-2011 the Principal may submit the admission list to 
KSDNEB up to 31-10-2011 duly paying the penalty at Rs.1000/- per student for the total number 
of students admitted up to 15-09-2011.  Please note that the penalty is for the delay to submit the 
list and does not mean that the admission can be made after 15-09-2011.  All admissions should 
be completed before 15-09-2011; 
Example for the payment of penalty for late submission 
1. No. of students admitted   : 50 
2. The Last date fixed to submit the list : 20-10-2011 
3. The actual date of the list submitted : 31-10-2011 
   
4. Hence penalty payable for the delay      :    No. of Students   Penalty          Total penalty
    in not submitting the list on or before             admitted         per student           payable
    20-10-2011 will be       50         x    Rs.1000       =   Rs.50,000/- 
7. The minimum of 20 Students should be admitted for 1st year GNM Course.  If the admissions are less than 20 students, the admissions of the concerned school will not be approved by the KSNC.  
8. The approved list of the students will be published in the website of the KSNC for the information of the Students and schools of nursing.   
9. The affiliation fee and penalty fee for the late submission should be credited to KSDNEB  
through Demand Draft only drawn in favour of the Medical Superintendent and Deputy 
Chairman, KSDNEB in any of the Nationalized Bank payable at Bangalore
10. As per the Government order NO. Aakuka 44/MPS/2003(3) dated 3-07-2003, ten percent (10%) of the total intake capacity of the respective nursing school should be reserved for filling up of these seats under Government quota by the Director of Medical Education, Anandarao Circle, Bangalore-09. 
11. If any candidates allotted to the respective Nursing Schools under Government quota will not take admission within the prescribed date, the permission of the Director of Medical Education should be sought for filling up of such vacancies.  Under any circumstances the vacant seats should not be filled up without the permission of the Director of the Medical Education, Bangalore.  The refusal of admission of Government quota candidates is liable to non approval of admission list for 2011-2012 of such schools. 
12. The correct address of the Nursing School should be intimated, change of address if any should be intimated to the Examination Board as and when the address is changed.  The Principal of the each school should have personal E-mail I.D. and school should have website.  
13. a) The identification card should be issued to all the students (Name and Year) and also to the faculty members every year for their Identification and they are directed to wear during the 
working hours of the School, Inspection etc.,. 
b) During the examination the students and faculty members should wear Identity Cards issued 
by the Examination Board and also wear the white uniform.   
c) The students and faculty members are directed to wear white uniform only during the working 
hours of the School, clinical Inspection. 
14.  The Annual Vacation of 30 days may be declared in two spells.  The first spell of 15 days after Annual Examination and another 15 days after the supplementary examination, 10 days Sick leave per annum may be sanctioned.  Sick leave cannot be accumulated from year to year.  No other holidays shall be declared  other than the holidays declared by Govt. of Karnataka.  The annual vacation should not be declared at their convenience other than occasions stated above.
15. All the Faculty members should register their names in the KSNC Bangalore.  16. The Faculty doing the MSc course are not eligible for examination / Evaluation work.  17. The Names of the Faculty members with photo, Qualification, Date from which they are working  in the present school of nursing etc., should be published in the website of the respective school.   No faculty members changes from one Institution to another Institution in the middle of academic  year i.e., from 01-09-2011 to 31-08-2012 as per INC norms and in the interest of students  education.  18. The Faculty members of the Nursing Schools should not be allowed to leave the school till the  Annual Examination results are announced as their services are required by the Board for  evaluation work and other works of the Board.   19. The internship period of six months will be commenced from 01-09-2011 in the same clinical area  of the respective schools.  20. The copies of the calendar of events, proforma for submission of list of students admitted for the  academic year, and prescribed application form are also enclosed herewith for information.  The receipt of this Circular may please be acknowledged and the format of acknowledgement is  enclosed herewith may be returned to the Secretary, KSDNEB, # 243, Pragati Arcade,1 st  floor, 3 rd Main, 3 rd , cross, Chamarajpet, Bangalore-18.  All the correspondences are to be made to the  Secretary, KSDNEB only.  NOTE:   1. It should be noted that any transfer of 2 nd  year and 3 rd  year students from one school to  another school should be with the approval of KSNC only and it should be within 20 days  from the date of announcement of the results.  2. If there is no admission in the schools during the last year and school is not functioning,  the remaining students in the schools may be transferred to the other schools recognized  by INC / KSNC in consultation with the KSNC in the interest of the students.
