PAYMENT OF REMUNERATION FOR EXAMINATION & EXAMINATION RELATED WORKS AND DAILY ALLOWANCE/ LOCAL CONVEYANCE ALLOWANCE
STATUTE GOVERNING THE PAYMENT OF REMUNERATION FOR EXAMINATION & EXAMINATION RELATED WORKS AND DAILY ALLOWANCE/ LOCAL CONVEYANCE ALLOWANCE (Framed under Section 29(2c) read with Sections 41 and 74 of the K.S.U. Act, 2000)
Preamble:
The Government in their letter No. Ed 30 UNE 2000, dated 18.11.2000, have communicated the recommendation No. 100/2000 of I.U.B. at its meeting held on 13.10.2000, with regard to payment of remuneration for examination related work and in letter No. ED 08 UDS 2006 dated 25.05.2006 have directed to revise the said draft statute incorporating the decision of IUB meeting held on 18.01.2003 in regard to payment of daily al owance / local conveyance al owance to the teachers who attending valuation work. At present Mangalore University does not have a statute relating to payment of remuneration for examination and examination related works and for payment of daily al owance / local conveyance al owance to the teachers who attending the valuation work. Hence this statute.
1. Title and Commencement:
i) This statute shall be called the statute governing the payment of remuneration for examination and examination related works and daily allowance / local conveyance allowance to the teachers attending the Central Valuation.
ii) This statute shall come in to effect from the date of assent of the Chancellor.
2. Examination and examination related works:
i) Notwithstanding anything contained in any law or contract or judgement/ decree awarded by the court, the various kinds of examination and examination related works assigned to the employees of the University and affiliated colleges is mandatory as per Section 28 read with Section 122 to Karnataka Education Act, 1983.
ii) The employees of the University and affiliated colleges shall carryout the examination and examination related works assigned to them failing which they are liable to appropriate disciplinary action by the University as per relevant rules or law.
3. Payment of remuneration, Daily al owance / local conveyance al owance:
i) The teachers of affiliated colleges of Mangalore University who are not covered under UGC Pay Scales shall be paid remuneration as prescribed by the Mangalore University when appointed as examiners.
ii) There shall be no payment of remuneration for the evaluation of answer books teachers who are covered under U.G.C. pay scales. Those teachers who are not paid remuneration and prevented from availing vacation due to evaluation and examination related work shall be entitled to Earned Leave as per K.C.S. Rs.
iii) The external examiners shall be paid remuneration for evaluation of books as prescribed by the University from time to time (External examiner means an examiner who is not an employee of University or its affiliated colleges).
iv) The teachers of Mangalore University, its affiliated colleges both covered under U.G.C. & Non-U.G.C. pay scales and External examiners (External examiners means an examiner who is not an employee of University or its affiliated colleges) attending the valuation work shall be paid Daily allowance / local conveyance allowance as prescribed by the Mangalore University.
4. Rates of remuneration, Daily al owance / local conveyance al owance:
The rates of remuneration for various examination and examination related works and daily allowance/ local conveyance allowance etc. shall be as fixed by the Syndicate from time to time.
